An LCAC (Landing Craft Air Cushion) deployed from the hull of the Bonhomme Richard (LHD-6) brings up the tail of the Parade of Ships. The Bonhomme Richard is capable of carrying 3 of the LCAC's in its hull.


The Navy LCAC's are used to transport weapons systems, equipment, cargo and personnel of the assault elements of the Marine Air/Ground Task Force both from ship to shore and across the beach. The payload of a LCAC is 60-75 tons and is capable of carrying the M-1 Abrams tank.


The SS Jeremiah O'Brien cruises San Francisco Bay during the Fleet Week activities. The Jeremiah O'Brien was built in 1943 and took part in the D-Day invasion of France in June of 1944. It is one of the few remaining Liberty ships, of which 2751 where built, and the only naval vessel of the great D-Day armada that is still regularly active.

The Coast Guard buoy tender Aspen anchors the North-west corner of the airshow box. The Aspen is a 225 foot Juniper "B" Class Seagoing Buoy Tender. The Aspen's mission ranges from maintaining the largest buoys in the Coast Guard's inventory to search and rescue and law enforcement. The Juniper "B" Class cutters are equipped with a Dynamic Positioning System and a special propulsion system that allows the ship to pivot in place.

The 47' foot motor lifeboat is a first response rescue resource and are capable of effecting a rescue at sea even under the most difficult circumstances. In addition to a long cruing radius for their size they are also self bailing, self righting, and almost unsinkable.
