Honda Jet Returns to Oshkosh 2006

Production in US to begin with Piper by Year's End

Honda's entry into the very light jet (VLJ) market, HondaJet, features several innovations that help it achieve far better fuel efficiency, larger cabin and luggage space and higher cruise speed than conventional aircraft in its class.

HondaJet Returns to EAA AirVenture Oshkosh with Expanded Honda Presence

At this year's EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, The World's Greatest Aviation Celebration, Honda will return with the groundbreaking very light jet HondaJet, which was unveiled to the world in a brief appearance at AirVenture 2005. This year Honda will display the jet for the duration of the show inside the new Honda Pavilion, now located just north of AeroShell Square.

Members of the HondaJet development team, including Michimasa Fujino, HondaJet project leader and vice president of Honda R&D Americas, Inc., will be on hand throughout the week to talk about the innovative aircraft and answer questions.

"With HondaJet on display for the full week, aviation enthusiasts will have an excellent opportunity to get a closer look at the design characteristics and technologies that this aircraft brings to the very light jet community," said Tom Poberezny, EAA president and AirVenture chairman.

Honda has been a part of EAA AirVenture for many years with motorcycle and power equipment displays, in addition to last year's world debut of HondaJet. This year, together with HondaJet, the Honda Pavilion will highlight Honda Racing and feature two IndyCars, as well as an expansive display of motorcycles, generators, personal watercraft and marine engines.

The 54th annual EAA fly-in convention will be held July 24-30 at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh. EAA, The Leader in Recreational Aviation, is an international association with 170,000 members and 1,000 local Chapters. To join EAA or for more information on EAA and its programs, call 1-800-JOIN-EAA (1-800-564-6322) or go to www.eaa.org.

The HondaJet is outfitted with a state-of-the-art all-glass flight deck with an integrated avionics system that displays all information digitally on a high resolution flat display, and also has an autopilot function.

HondaJet's patented over-the-wing engine-mount configuration helps eliminate the need for a structure to mount the engines to the rear fuselage and, thus, maximizes the space in the fuselage. Positioning the HF-118 engines on the upper surfaces of the wing also reduces drag at high speed, improving fuel efficiency.
