Cartoons in WWII

The Hairless Joe character also featured another famous WWII nose art name, the P-51D Mustang "Moonbeam McSwine," but strangely enough, without the nose art itself:

Hairless Joe Too

Hairless Joe was one half of the combo that created "Kickapoo Joy Juice," a form of Southern intoxicant made with his pal Lonesome Polecat and advertised as having no shortage of body, since if it lacked any, "they just threw one in."

Gun ports, Missile Racks

The business end of the port side wing on a P-47D Thunderbolt, the true tank and train buster of World War II.

Starboard side

Gun ports and missile racks on the starboard side. Note the armored headrest and seatback areas for the pilot. He didn't actually rest his head there...just rested easier.

History Re-enactors

World War II history re-enactors gather for a photo shoot wearing authentic uniforms, equipment and parachutes, worn by the pilots of that era.

I Wonder if his name is Joe?
