Two Transall C-160 troop transports move into position at the 1985 Memmingen Air Show. The the first aircraft, seen in photo center, is to deliver sky divers over the Memmingen display area and the second, seen at the far right of this photo, is to participate in traditional fly pasts and touch-and-go landings, to demonstrate for the attending crowds the short-field performance and agility of the European military cargo and passenger plane.

The first of two, Luftwaffe Transall C-160 transport planes, departs Memmingen to deliver sky divers for a mass jump on the field from overhead patchy cumulus clouds that were in the area. The total count of parachutists making the mass jump was unknown to this photographer, however, one slide alone contained eighteen sky divers and their chutes!
