Our Crew

Moremi Air aims to make your guests' flight transfers an integral part of their safari. The Journey is the experience... We concentrate on what makes a flying safari memorable - personal attention from dedicated, caring and enthusiastic staff.

Pilots

Our pilots hail from many parts of the world. Most pilots fly on average of 900 hours per year in Maun. This makes Maun an excellent choice for most career pilots who are looking to join the Major Airlines round the world in the future. We find that many pilots once they have spread their wings, are often homesick for the unique flying which the Okavango Delta provides. What we do enjoy most of all, is that our pilots have a passion and enthusiasm for their profession, and you will find this contagious!

Scenic Flights

Welcome to Africa! Your journey has brought you to one of the most unique wilderness areas in the world - The Okavango Delta in Botswana, and the Victoria Falls on the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe.

A Scenic flight is the most efficient in terms of time, and enables you to experience an aerial view, which puts into perspective the vastness of these wilderness areas.

The best times for scenic flights are in the morning and late afternoon when weather conditions are calmer.

For your comfort and safety, please take heed of your pilot’s safety instructions. Your pilot will assist you in looking out for game along the way. Seeing game is always a “Lucky Dip” so have your eyes peeled!

Maun – The Okavango Delta
Duration: One Hour

Enjoy a scenic flight from Maun Airport over the Okavango Delta. Keep a look out for Hippos in the waterways and Elephant and Buffalo in the shade of the trees. Observe how the water channels meander their way through the Delta in ever changing paths as this Dynamic water system evolves. The vastness of this pristine wilderness is breathtaking.

We are happy to offer longer scenic flights from Maun taking in the Seronga area where the Delta system stems from the Okavango river.

Kasane – Victoria Falls
Duration: 1 hour 30mins inclusive

See the “Smoke that Thunders” from a birds eye view and experience the wonder of this natural phenomenon. The aircraft departs from Kasane and flies along the Chobe River over the meeting place of Four Nations and into Livingstone airport from where one catches the first glimpse of the fine spray over the Falls. This takes approximately 20 minutes and passengers are then required to sign through Zambian Immigration and pay a visa fee.

Once formalities are completed, the flight takes off from Livingstone airport and flies out over the Victoria Falls for a few circuits before returning along the Zambezi River to Kasane airport.
(Passports required)

Kasane – Okavango Daytrip
Duration: 7 Hours

Depart Kasane airport early in the morning and enjoy a 1 and a half hour scenic flight over Mopane Veld to reach the islands of the Okavango Delta. Spend a day on Pom Pom island and experience a tranquil Mekoro trip on the crystal clear waters of the Delta. Enjoy lunch on the Island before returning to Kasane airport.

Mack Air ~ Botswana

"MACK AIR is a well established and respected air charter company that has been operating in northern Botswana for over 14 years. The company was first established in 1994 by Stuart and Lara Mackay, both of whom had been working in the Okavango for a number of years before setting up the company. The operation began with just one Cessna 206, A2-AKB. Lutz Gottschalk was the first pilot employed by MACK AIR in July 1996 and he is still with us today! By 1998 there was a small team of pilots undertaking the daily flights.

Over the years, MACK AIR has built up a reputation for offering a reliable, efficient and personable service with an emphasis on safety as a priority. From its humble beginnings based in a hot rustic shack, MACK AIR has moved on to new air-conditioned offices located opposite Maun Airport. From just Stu and Lara in the early days, MACK AIR now operates 14 aircraft, employs 11 pilots and has a staff compliment of over 35 personnel.

At MACK AIR our services include the following:

~ camp transfers

~ supply runs

~ scenic flights

~ medical evacuations.

Our versatile fleet enables us to schedule the appropriate aircraft type for your particular needs thereby improving our service offerings to our customers. Based in Maun, the gateway to the Okavango, our destinations are throughout Botswana and neighbouring countries reaching as far as Johannesburg, Windhoek, Victoria Falls and Vilanculos.

So come along, join us today. MACK AIR - flying at a different level.

Regards, Stu & Lara"

Ground Operations:

As part of any good operation it is vital to have a professional support system in place. MACK AIR prides itself on its reliable and efficient service we offer to our clients. From the early stages of the quoting system, to the final stages of the flight schedule and invoicing, every department plays a vital role in the overall quality service MACK AIR offers.

The daily running of our flight schedule is not always an easy task. Many flight routings depend largely on International flights being on time and when these flights are delayed, the schedule has to be re-arranged quickly and efficiently. Good communication is vital for the MACK AIR operation to run smoothly. Our Ground Operation team has direct communication with our aircraft in the sky as well as with the various camps and lodges in the region to ensure that the daily schedule operates efficiently and safely.

Grace and Kefelwe - Reception and Logistics

Controlling the busy switchboard is just the beginning of their daily tasks. Meet and greet of clients, applying for International Flight Clearances, advising all companies and lodges of client movements, informing clients of the relevant information and finding lost luggage from International flights is just some of the jobs covered in these ladies busy day.

Lesedi - Reservations

The quoting and booking system plays a vital role in the workings of MACK AIR. Answering all queries and replying to quotes of the many emails flooding through each day is just part of a normal days work in a charter company. All information is recorded and entered onto Booking Sheets from where our Schedulers obtain all the vital information to process the Flight Schedule.

Louise, Ruth and Mambo - Scheduling

Once a Booking Sheet is completed by Reservations, it is used by the scheduling department to create a workable Flight Schedule. Many different aspects have to be taken into consideration when developing the Flight Schedule such as different airstrip qualities and aircraft capabilities. The schedule is altered constantly due to last minute changes and new booking requests keeping all the schedulers on their toes.

Bev - Accounts

Bev has mammoth task of translating the schedule into accurate monthly invoices. With thousands of movements in a month this can be a challenging task.

Pilot and Aircraft Management

All our pilot and aircraft hours have to be monitored. By law pilots may only fly 100 hours per month, 900 hours per annum and on no more than six consecutive days. Our aircraft are subject to stringent maintenance regimes scheduled for inspection every 50 and 100 hours, as well as undergoing annual airworthiness inspections.

Ground Attendants

The final link in our daily operations are our fantastic team of aircraft attendants who are there to welcome you to Botswana, assist you with your luggage and to escort you to your awaiting aircraft.
